lying on a trashcan
today...
except he wasn't dead
he was invisible

I could see him

he was breathing

in and out
in little gasps
making a cloud
of dead invisibility
that hung
around him
like a fog
a fume
a fungus
a malignant pall
that covered
enshrouded
blanketed
and protected him
from light and life
